Middlesex bring in bowler Noffke

Noffke will play until Indian spinner Murali Kartik arrives

Middlesex have signed Australian pace bowler Ashley Noffke for a two-month spell at the start of the season.

The Australian, who was also targeted by Hampshire, will come in until Indian spinner Murali Kartik can return.

"It's great to have Noffke come back home to where he played his first English county season back in 2002," said chief executive Vinny Codrington.

"He's a high-quality opening bowler who knows Lord's and he'll add a bit of extra firepower to our strong attack."

Noffke added: "I'm delighted to be joining Middlesex for the start of the 2008 season.

"As soon as I knew the club were interested, it wasn't a hard decision to decide where I wanted to play."
