Match scorecard

Surrey wicketkeeper Steven Davies
Davies hit seven fours and fours sixes in his 30-ball 70

Surrey went out of the FP t20 despite Steven Davies carrying them to a six-wicket win over Gloucestershire.

Davies, who hit 70 from 30 balls, shared a opening stand of 112 with Rory Hamilton-Brown (48) as Surrey reached their target of 148 in just 11.5 overs.

Earlier, Gloucestershire could only manage 147-9 from their 20 overs.

The win means Surrey finish level on points with Hampshire and Middlesex in the South Group, but Hampshire make the quarter-finals on net run rate.

After Surrey won the toss, Chris Tremlett (3-18) removed Aaron Redmond and Alex Gidman inside the first six overs.

Will Porterfield (37) led the Gloucestershire recovery, but when he fell to Chris Schofield (2-27) the hosts lost four wickets for nine runs and went on to fall short of a total that would trouble the Surrey batting.

Mindful that run rate could play a part in their destiny, Davies, who brought up his half century in just 19 balls, and Hamilton-Brown scored rapidly, plundering 78 from the first six overs.

Surrey would eventually complete their victory with a massive 49 balls remaining, but it was not enough to trump Hampshire.
