The Twenty20 Cup was an instant hit, with 8,500 people turning up to the Rose Bowl for the first game between Hampshire and Sussex.
More than 80,000 people watched the first 18 games, compared with 68,000 for 45 matches in the previous year's B&H Cup - the tournament it replaced.
The average attendance at B&H games was 1,200 but the new format pulled in between 5,500 and 6,000 per match.
A staggering 255,000 people watched the whole competition in the first year but, more importantly, a new, younger group of fans, with more women and children, was coming to games.
