Glasgow sink Swansea
Glasgow were too good for Swansea
Kenny Sinclair bursts through to score for Glasgow
Glasgow 37-20 Swansea

Glasgow gave coaches Richie Dixon and Rob Moffat the perfect farewell present at Hughenden as they completed a Welsh-Scottish League double over fallen champions Swansea.

The All Whites had romped to the best possible start, taking full advantage of Glasgow's hesitancy in defence, but the home troops recovered to take the honours in convincing style.

From their first attack of the game, Swansea centre Mark Taylor nipped in with an expert sidestep.

Fly-half Gavin Henson followed up to land the conversion from an awkward angle.

Glasgow survived further scares before seizing the initiative.

Tommy Hayes got them off the mark with a 40-metre penalty, then they grabbed the lead with a brilliant piece of opportunism from scrum-half Kenny Sinclair.

Glasgow's fourth-choice number nine latched onto a short pass from Jonny Petrie, spotted a tiny gap and scuttled to the line almost 50 metres away. Hayes added the extra points.

The home fans were cheering again a few minutes later when wing Jon Steel sprinted in for try number two after slick crossfield handling.

Henson and Hayes swapped penalties before the Welshmen were rocked by another setback when centre Nik Witkowski was banished to the sin-bin for a high tackle.

Glasgow quickly got the scoreboard ticking over after the restart when James McLaren slotted a clever drop-goal and Hayes added another penalty.

The fly-half repeated the dose five minutes later, but Swansea refused to buckle completely as Witkowski dashed in at the corner.

Glasgow were not to be knocked off their stride, however, and dead-eye Hayes thumped over his fifth penalty to put his side out of reach.

To their credit, Swansea kept pressing and they created a fine consolation try from close-in by Sililo Martens.

Glasgow had the last word when Petrie crashed over after a powerful scrummage surge, replacement fly-half Calvin Howarth landing the conversion.
