Two players on Greece's Olympic baseball team have tested positive for drugs, it was announced on Monday.
The athletes were named as Andrew James Brack and Derek Nicholson.
One 'A' sample revealed traces of the steroid stanozolol and the other contained the diuretic substance hydrochloro-thiazide.
A second sample confirmed the first findings with Brack guilty of taking steroids while Nicholson tested positive for diuretics.
"This is unfortunate news," said Greece's baseball federation chief Panayiotis Mitsopoulos.
"But on the other hand it also has a positive side because it shows that Greece will stage clean Olympics."
The tests will have embarrassed the Greek-American owner of the Balitmore Orioles Major League team, Peter Angelos, who sponsored a squad made up mostly of Americans of Greek descent.
The majority of the players are those who appear in the American minor leagues or who are expatriates living in Greece.
