"A lot of cognoscenti in the Formula 1 media say that Robert Kubica is the best driver out there - I've never bought into that but he is very good.
"He is a stunningly fast driver, as he proved with his second place for BMW in Brazil.
"The 24-year-old has clearly got caught up in a poor BMW Sauber car this season and now the manufacturer is exiting the sport.
"Kubica always craved and demanded more attention from BMW even when he was leading the championship for them in 2008.
"The Pole is joining Renault next year and I think he'll do very well there. The team will embrace him because they've lost Fernando Alonso to Ferrari and are searching for a team leader and a new champion.
"Renault is also searching to re-establish their credibility and image after the 'crash-gate' scandal of Singapore 2008.
"Next season is a chance for both Kubica and Renault to recover their reputation and for him in particular to reconfirm his potential as a future champion."

What three words would you use to describe what it's like to be a Formula One driver? Exciting and intense.
What is the biggest perk of the job? Driving.
How would you like to be remembered as an F1 driver? I don't care.
What is your most embarrassing sporting moment? I don't remember any embarrassing moment in my career so far.
Who is the worst dressed Formula One driver? I don't know. I don't care. Maybe me, maybe not.
Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost? Both of them were great drivers. I don't have a preference.
Spa has its own climate and its own history. It has a completely different characteristic than Monaco. Monaco is the only real street circuit in Formula One. If I had to choose I would go for Monaco.
If you weren't an F1 driver what would you be? If I were not a racing driver at all, I would definitely work in motor sports. If I would not be an F1 driver, I would most probably drive GT cars.
Who is the greatest sportsman of all time? There are many great sportsmen - in the past and in the present, but it is pretty hard to compare different sports.
What would be your perfect day off? I would like to do a long-distance rally stage in Finland with a World Rally Championship car.
Where is your favourite place to go on holiday? I have never been to Finland but I would like to go there. I like quiet places where you are on your own. I think Finland offers places like this.
Apart from a house what is the most expensive thing that you own? No comment.
What is your favourite item of clothing? I like T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts.
What is your favourite music to drive to? It depends on the situation and on my mood but 90% of my time I listen to the radio.
Which famous person - dead or alive - would you like to have dinner with and why? Maybe (five-time world rally champion) Sebastien Loeb, maybe (poker player) Gus Hansen.
I am a big rally fan and Sebastien Loeb won so many titles. He is the one who could give me advice. I like Gus Hansen's way to play poker.
Tell us something about yourself that most F1 fans might not know In F1 there are so many media so there is practically nothing about me you cannot find in the media.
Steve McQueen or Paul Newman? Steve McQueen. I have a T-shirt with his portrait printed on it.
