Wright made just one appearance for Posh last season
Peterborough United youngster Ben Wright hopes his hat-trick in Tuesday's 4-0 win over St Albans will prove a timely reminder of his talents.
The 20-year-old striker has made just one appearance since joining from Hampton and Richmond in January.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm delighted to get three goals and my first goals for the club.
"But I won't be setting any aims or getting carried away, it was just good to play 90 minutes."
Wright is currently the club's third choice striker behind Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith, and admits he faces a battle to win a regular place in the side.
"It's a tough ask to get either Craig or Aaron out of the team, but I'll keep working hard and hopefully I'll get my chance," he said.
"As yet we haven't really spoken about the new season, but I'm involved at the moment which is all I can ask for."
Posh were without boss Darren Ferguson at St Albans on Tuesday after he became the latest person at the club to suffer flu-like symptoms.
Assistant boss Kevin Russell took charge and was impressed with the efforts of a side which included youngsters Sam Gaughran and Billy Crook.
"We've had a few lads go down ill, which wasn't ideal but the movement and passing was good," he said.
"The younger lads especially were excellent and are improving all the time."
