1800: And that is a wrap from me for today, after two hard-fought and largely entertaining Premier League games. You can catch the highlights of those on Match of the Day 2 on BBC2 at 2200, and don't forget to join Stevo tomorrow night for Fulham v Hull. See you lot soon.

1758: That result means we are as we were in the Premier League table - Manchester City stay fifth, five points behind leaders Manchester United but with a game in hand. Wigan remain 13th.

1755: That was fun wasn't it? City had to play the final 30 minutes with 10 men after Pablo Zabaleta's red card but they held out despite some sustained Wigan pressure. A point apiece is fair enough though.

1754: FULL-TIME Wigan 1-1 Man City

1753: City have got everyone back now but they are not needed - Maynor Figueroa crosses from the left but the ball flies out of play.

1752: Wigan have ditched the pretty stuff and are launching balls into the City area. Shay Given comes to the visitors' rescue again, beating Jason Scotland to a loose ball.

1751: We'll have four minutes of injury time at the DW Stadium. City boss Mark Hughes does not look happy.

1750: End-to-end stuff in the final minute, as Martin Petrov fires in a dangerous cross for City before the ball is cleared to the other end where Hugo Rodallega repeats the trick. Nobody is there to get on the end of either ball, however.

1749: Nigel de Jong is caught in possession and the ball is crossed for Hugo Rodallega at the far post. It bounces kindly for the Colombian and he pokes a shot goalwards that Shay Given manages to deflect wide.

From bigjackearle on 606: "Man City can consider themselves lucky if they get a point here."

1745: A rare attack from City, with Martin Petrov getting a chance to curl in another cross from out wide on the left. It's aimed at Joleon Lescott at the far post but he slips and the ball runs out of play.

1743: Shay Given saves at the feed of Jordi Gomez as Wigan come forward again. The Latics are about to make a change of their own.

1742: Roque Santa Cruz is on for Carlos Tevez, who looks exhausted - he was playing for Argentina in midweek remember. Stephen Ireland replaces Shaun Wright-Philips.

1740: Nine minutes left at the DW Stadium and City are going to make two more changes - Stephen Ireland and Roque Santa Cruz are coming on.

1739: Wigan are still enjoying all the possession but they cannot make the breakthrough at the moment. Hugo Rodallega and Charles N'Zogbia get in each other's way as they shape to shoot inside the City area and the chance is gone. At the other end, Maynor Figueroa sends Shaun Wright-Phillips sprawling in the box with a sliding tackle - it's debatable whether he got too much of the ball but referee Alan Wiley says 'no penalty'.

1738: Phil Neville on BBC Radio 5 live: "Wigan, under Roberto Martinez, always look to pass the ball well and they are reaping the rewards at the moment."

1737: City are working hard in the middle of the park but Wigan are doing the right thing with their extra man and spreading the ball well.

1735: City have got 15 minutes to hold out, which looks a tough task, but they have also got Carlos Tevez running himself daft on his own up front. Tevez launches himself at a Chris Kirkland clearance after chasing down a back-pass and almost connects with what would have been a diving header. Great show of effort by the Argentine.

1732: Wigan are soon back on the attack though and looking very dangerous. They get the ball in the net again when Hendry Thomas runs on to Charles N'Zogia's through-ball before firing home... but Thomas is flagged offside. Just.

1731: Manchester City take a short free-kick and Carlos Tevez fires over from 30 yards. The visitors have just made a defensive substitution - now Wigan are making an attacking one... here comes Jordi Gomez, on for Paul Scharner.

1729: Emmanuel Adebayor limps off for 10-man Manchester City, to be replaced by Vincent Kompany. We've got 20 minutes left.

1727: Manchester City cannot clear their lines and Wigan midfielder Mohamed Diame has space to fire in a rising shot from the edge of the box that flies just over. The Latics are going for this now.

Pablo Zabaleta, who was booked before the break, is shown a second yellow card for catching Jason Scotland with a late lunge. He's not happy, but referee Alan Wiley is right. City down to 10 men.

1725: RED CARD Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta

1724: Another searching delivery from Martin Petrov, who curls in a wicked cross from the left. Gareth Barry appears at the back post to head it goalwards but Chris Kirkland pushes the ball away.

1723: Less than half-an-hour to go at the DW Stadium and this game is still wide open.

1721: Shay Given is called into action when a Hugo Rodallega free-kick is knocked back across goal towards Jason Scotland. The Manchester City goalkeeper beats the Latics striker to a high ball and the visitors clear.

1719: Hmmm. Emmanuel Adebayor is limping a bit, and City boss Mark Hughes signals for Roque Santa Cruz to start warming up.

From eccles45 on 606: "Brave lad, Chris Kirkland!"

1718: A quick test for Chris Kirkland's finger - he has to leap to catch Shaun Wright-Phillips' cross but seems to be suffering no ill-effects from his injury.

1716: A spot of bother for Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, who has a dislocated finger. He's going to carry on though... after snapping it back into place.

1714: Wigan's turn to come forward and it's a decent opportunity too. Mohamed Diame pulls the ball back for Paul Scharner and Hugo Rodallega, who seem to get in each other's way. I think Scharner got the final touch but his shot bounced wide.

1713: City attack again and only a great challenge by Titus Bramble denies Emmanuel Adebayor as he shapes to shoot. The loose ball falls to Shaun Wright-Phillips, whose shot is tipped over by Chris Kirkland. A good save that.

1712: Phil Neville on BBC Radio 5 live: "City are now on the front foot, the same as Wigan were in the first half. It is the home side who cannot get going now."

1709: I wonder what City boss Mark Hughes said at half-time? That goal has set us up nicely for the second half - both sides are keen to attack and the tackles are flying in now too. Mario Melchiot catches Carlos Tevez but he seemed to get a bit of the ball too and he escapes a booking from Alan Wiley.

The second half is only 63 seconds old when Carlos Tevez runs down the right and sends over a cross that Martin Petrov allows to roll across his body before firing into the bottom corner of the net with his trusty left foot.

1706: GOALFLASH Wigan 1-1 Man City (Petrov)

1705: Wigan get the second half started. No substitutions from either side yet.

1703: Phil Neville on BBC Radio 5 live: "Wigan are good value for their lead - they worked their socks off and created the most chances. It is a massive task for City to turn this round in the second half."

1658: Our radio commentary on this game has switched from 5 live to 5 live Sports Extra but, if you give this page a manual refresh, you can click on the new icon on the right and listen away (if you are in the UK of course). The reason for the change of channel is a car race in Brazil.

1654: I'm just looking at that Charles N'Zogbia goal again - he definitely gets the final touch, just getting to the ball ahead of a desperate lunge by Wayne Bridge. No 'og' there.

1651: It had been a fairly even first half at the DW Stadium, with Wigan starting brightly before City came into things. The game definitely needed a goal, however, and that's exactly what it got from Charles N'Zogbia just before the break.

1648: HALF-TIME Wigan 1-0 Man City

A very good time for Wigan to score - right on the stroke of half-time. Hugo Rodallega breaks forward down the left and fires in a cross-shot that Shay Given can only parry into the path of the onrushing Charles N'Zogbia, who slots home from close range.

1646: GOALFLASH Wigan 1-0 Man City (N'Zogbia)

1645: Well, Wigan have got the ball in the net but Alan Wiley is quick to blow his whistle and end the home side's celebrations. Joleon Lescott stops Jason Scotland but the loose ball falls for Charles N'Zogbia, who bustles past Gareth Barry before firing home. Wiley felt N'Zogbia fouled Barry - the home fans disagree.

1644: Manchester City have had a lot of free-kicks near the Wigan area but they have not been making the most of them. They almost change that when Martin Petrov taps short to Pablo Zabaleta and he chips the ball goalwards before Chris Kirkland stretches to catch a Carlos Tevez header.

1642: Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has not exactly been busy at the other end either, but he is forced into action when Martin Petrov's free-kick glances off Gareth Barry's head and bounces towards the far corner through a crowd of players. An extra touch from anybody there might have made things interesting.

1639: Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given is called into action for the first time, pushing away Hugo Rodallega's swerving shot from about 25 yards out. Both Wigan's wingers like to cut in from the flanks and let fly.

1636: Martin Petrov and Wayne Bridge are combining well down the left for City - their latest link-up sees Bridge break into the box but his pull-back is easily cleared.

1634: Alan Wiley dishes out another booking after Pablo Zabaleta tangles with Maynor Figueroa. Neither side can keep hold of the ball right now.

1631: Manchester City have certainly picked things up a bit here after their poor start. Wigan clear a Martin Petrov corner but City retain possession and almost set up Joleon Lescott in front of goal - the final pass is a bit too strong for the England defender.

1629: Wigan's Hendry Thomas becomes the first player to go into referee Alan Wiley's book for a cynical foul on Shaun Wright-Phillips. Martin Petrov wastes the resulting free-kick with an extremely poor delivery from the right that fails to clear the first defender.

I know the answer to this one, actually. England (the ex-Wales boss, just to give another country a mention) is running an old people's home in Colwyn Bay, my home town.

1626: More pressing by the visitors and Shaun Wright-Phillips' clever ball almost finds Gareth Barry at the far post but Mario Melchiot is in the right place to clear.

1625: City's best chance so far. Carlos Tevez finds Emmanuel Adebayor in the Wigan area with a searching ball and the Togo striker turns inside Titus Bramble but he is crowded out of it as he tries to take the ball round Chris Kirkland.

1623: A great little ball by Carlos Tevez sets Shaun Wright-Phillips free, but he is judged to be just offside. A close call but the linesman was right.

1621: Wigan have a free-kick cleared for a corner, which is retaken after some argy-bargy in the box between Joleon Lescott and Paul Scharner. Lescott clears when the ball comes over again, despite being hauled back by Scharner. Good defending.

1618: City are certainly a bit tighter in midfield now and seem to have worked out that, as Wigan have adopted a shoot-on-sight policy, it might be an idea not to let them have a sight to shoot (or something like that). Still not much happening when the visitors go forward though.

1614: It's possible that Scotland and Ireland could score in this game. And Kirkland too, but that's not quite the same is it?

From smurfsdabomb on 606: "It's no coincidence that, the moment he left Newcastle, they were relegated and Man City became title challengers. For me, Shay Given is the best keeper in the game at the moment."

1612: Another Wigan pot-shot, with Charles N'Zogbia cutting in from the right and firing in with his left foot. It's better than his earlier effort but fizzes wide - meaning City keeper Shay Given still hasn't been tested, for all the home side's attempts on goal.

1611: Better from Manchester City, who get the ball down and string together a few passes for the first time. They advance to the edge of the Wigan box but Gareth Barry miscontrols the ball and the move breaks down.

1609: Paul Scharner is the latest Wigan player to try his luck on goal, after more good work by Jason Scotland. Scharner's shot from distance is a disappointing one, however, and the ball rolls harmlessly wide.

1608: Former England defender Phil Neville on BBC Radio 5 live: "Titus Bramble has come on leaps and bounds since arriving at Wigan. He's shown the sort of consistency that made Sir Bobby Robson sign him for Newcastle in 2002."

1606: A first attack from City - with Carlos Tevez spreading the ball to Martin Petrov on the left and the Bulgarian flighting a dangerous cross in. Titus Bramble does well to clear.

1605: Jason Scotland wriggles away from Micah Richards and crosses for Hugo Rodallega, who sees his shot blocked. City haven't got going yet - Wigan are the opposite, comfortable and composed.

1604: More neat football from the Latics, who have just had the first effort on goal from Charles N'Zogbia. It flew a mile over.

1602: Wigan start brightly, with a decent spell of possession outside the City penalty area... but the visitors clear their lines.

1601: We're off. Manchester City get the game under way.

1558: Here come the Wigan and Manchester City players, including the Latics' Honduran duo Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa who returned in time to play after celebrating helping their country qualify for next year's World Cup finals - which will be their first since 1982.

From Bench warmers need love too on 606: "Re Czechmate. I think Stephen Ireland has been kept on the bench so if things go pear-shaped he can do exactly that; come on and change the game."

1554: Only a few minutes to go until kick-off at the DW, where local lass Jenny Meadows has just been introduced to the home crowd. She is showing off the bronze medal she won in the 800m at the athletics World Championships in Berlin in August.

1551: Wigan's last home game saw them beat Chelsea 3-1, and they've also beaten Aston Villa this season... they can be a bit inconsistent though. Defeats by Hull, Blackpool (in the Carling Cup) and Wolves sort of tell their own story.

1546: Here's a fact for you: Manchester City have never won at the DW Stadium (even when it was known as the JJB Stadium). Their last win over Wigan on their travels was at the Latics' old Springfield Park home in November 1998, in what is now League One. Shaun Goater scored City's winner.

1540: Wigan manager Roberto Martinez on big-spending Manchester City's expensively-assembled squad: "It is a glamorous team which has players anyone would pick if they were playing a computer game. City have so much quality that they can change things around and if you look at the sort of goals they score the majority are because of the pace they have in their side so they are always dangerous.

1538: If Manchester City win by two goals, then they will climb to third in the Premier League table - above Tottenham on goal difference. Wigan could go ninth, if they win by four or more.

1536: I'm just watching referee Alan Wiley go through his warm-up with his fellow officials at the DW Stadium before Wigan's game with Manchester City. You might remember Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson questioned Wiley's fitness after his side's draw with Sunderland? Ferguson has since apologised for the slight but could be in hot water with the Football Association.

1532: Burnley manager Owen Coyle on his side's 3-2 defeat by Blackburn: "I felt we did enough to deserve a draw. The way we started was terrific and we scored a great goal but we defended poorly after that. We still had a good go at it in the second half but we needed to score again a lot earlier than we did. We'll take the slap in the face and look to bounce back as quickly as we can but we have still shown we are a good side."

1528: TEAM NEWS Wigan v Man City
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez names the same team that was beaten by Hull last time out. Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has to make do without central defender Kolo Toure, who has a heel injury and is replaced by Micah Richards. Striker Craig Bellamy is also out, with a groin problem, so Martin Petrov takes his place.

1526: Manchester City manager Mark Hughes on the influence goalkeeper Shay Given has had in his side's good start to the season: "In terms of his presence on the field of play, he has a calming influence on the back four. There has been a marked difference in the way the guys in front of him have been able to defend. That comes from his knowledge of the game. He knows when you might need to take the sting out of games or build momentum. That starts from Shay."

1525: More from Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce, who sounds ever so slightly confused: "It's my birthday tomorrow, so obviously that was an early Christmas present from the lads."

1524: Blackburn's next two Premier League matches? Chelsea away, then Manchester United away. Easy.

1523: A hoarse Blackburn forward David Dunn on his side's derby win: "You saw the reaction of the Blackburn fans at the end and that shows you how much it meant to us. To score against Burnley is great but more important than that is to get the three points because our next two games are really difficult."

1515: Blackburn really are the birthday boys right now - Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen turned 32 today and he seemed to enjoy handing man of the match David Dunn his champagne afterwards. He might even get to taste a bit of that later.

1513: Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce on his side's 3-2 derby win over Burnley: "We were disappointed to concede so late on and anything could have happened at the end, but we defended bravely when it mattered. I can enjoy my birthday tomorrow now and I am looking forward to it."

1508: Burnley's away Premier League record now reads P5 L5 F2 A17. It's a good thing Turf Moor is such a fortress, really, and the Clarets' next two games are at home - against Wigan and Hull City.

From gunner-zp - Rosický Returns! Believe in Bendtner on 606: "Chris Eagles should get more minutes I think, made a real impact for Burnley when he came on."

1500: It's fair to say that the Blackburn supporters are keen to celebrate their win and rub Burnley fans' noses in it a bit. Ewood Park is bouncing, and nobody seems keen to leave at the moment... well, apart from the people in the away section anyway.

1458: Too little, too late for Burnley in the end - if they had scored their second goal a bit earlier, then they might just have snatched a draw. Not sure they would have deserved it, though, because Blackburn were on top for most of the match and I don't think Clarets goalkeeper Brian Jensen will remember this match too fondly either.

1457: Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 live: "What a derby, full of passion on and off the pitch - for me, the best team won."

1456: FULL-TIME Blackburn 3-2 Burnley

1455: That could have been curtains. Burnley pour forward but Rovers break quickly and Brian Jensen is lucky to only get a yellow card after rushing out of his goal to bring down Jason Roberts, who was out wide on the left touchline.

1454: Morten Gamst Pedersen has a chance to seal it for Blackburn after a quick break. David Dunn's shot is blocked and falls for the Norwegian but he fires over.

Interesting. The fourth official has just signalled for four added minutes when Stephen Jordan breaks forward down the left and squares for Chris Eagles to slot home from close range. Time for another?

1453: GOALFLASH Blackburn 3-2 Burnley (Eagles)

1452: Burnley's best effort for oooh, ages, sees a Chris Eagles shot force a decent low save from Paul Robinson at his near post. The ball skidded through to the England goalkeeper, who got a fingertip to it.

1451: Sorry, our 'As it stands' Premier League table isn't working and momentarily confused me. A Rovers win here will see them climb to 12th, not 14th or 15th.

1450: This hasn't exactly been a bad-tempered derby but there have been a smattering of yellow cards. Chris Samba (Burnley) and Tyrone Mears (Burnley) are the latest players to go into Chris Foy's book... he's written down five names in total now.

1447: Hold on to your hats - I've got another substitution to tell you about. Pascal Chimbonda, who earlier scored his first goal for Blackburn, is replaced by Gael Givet.

1446: Five minutes left at Ewood Park and Blackburn are looking to waste a bit of time and see this one out. I've just remembered that I promised you more goals at half-time. Sorry about that.

1445: A few of you are texting in, hoping to see the appearance of a beach ball to liven this one up. This game could certainly do with something to get things going... a Burnley goal would help.

1443: Better from Burnley, with Graham Alexander having a shot blocked after good work by Wade Elliott down the right. Blackburn make another change, with Brett Emerton on for El Hadji Diouf.

1441: Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce turns 55 tomorrow. I'm sure he'll be having a very happy birthday if the score stays the same... a win will see Rovers climb five places to 12th and move three points above the relegation zone.

1439: Not much to report, apart from substitutions - it's that exciting. Kevin McDonald replaces Andre Bikey in Burnley's third and final change.

1437: Blackburn's first change of the game - Jason Roberts is on for the impressive Franco Di Santo, who made one Rovers goal and scored another.

1435: Less than 15 minutes to go, and Burnley are still trying to find a way back into things. Chris Eagles should really try his luck when Wade Elliott finds him inside the box, but he takes an extra touch and the chance is gone.

1433: Another change for Burnley, with David Nugent coming off and Steven Thompson replacing him. Not Nugent's finest game - I've hardly noticed him.

1431: Not a surprise to see Paul Robinson try the same tactic with Blackburn's next free-kick. Cue more chaos as Brian Jensen comes, fails to collect, then is lucky to have the ball smashed straight back at him.

1430: Oh dear. Another mistake by Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen as he comes to collect a long Paul Robinson free-kick, and misses it completely. To be fair, the Dane did get a slight nudge from Chris Samba but he will be very relieved to see the ball bounce over - to think I was just praising him too...

1428: Er, this game has gone a bit downhill after all the excitement earlier. Burnley just cannot find a decent final ball at the moment, while Blackburn continue to launch long throws into the visitors area - not great to watch, if I'm honest.

1426: David Dunn, Blackburn's best player today, bends a free-kick into the Burnley area but it flies straight at Brian Jensen, who seems to have but his earlier mistake behind him and catches it easily.

1425: Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 live: "This is all a bit scrappy at the moment - someone needs to get the ball down on the floor and do something with it."

1423: Another decent chance for Steven Caldwell from that Burnley corner - he has a free header at the far post but cannot get enough power behind it... it was actually going off-target too.

1422: Chris Eagles doesn't take long to get involved, sprinting forward when a Blackburn move breaks down. He feeds Robbie Blake inside the box but his cross-shot is poor and is cleared from a corner.

1421: Here comes Chris Eagles now, replacing Steven Fletcher. Eagles has got around 30 minutes to stretch his wings and try to salvage something for the Clarets.

1420: Burnley are about to bring on Chris Eagles, the former Manchester United winger. He used to be Cristiano Ronaldo's understudy you know.

1419: Keith Andrews and Andre Bikey clash in the middle of the pitch and Bikey is down, writhing in agony. Not sure what happened but referee Chris Foy is just telling him to get up.

1418: So, Franco Di Santo is a bit good, no? He may not exactly be full of pace but he likes to run at defenders and he is a bit tricky too. Blackburn break quickly through the Argentine but Burnley clear the danger, eventually.

1416: Blackburn attack again. Another long throw by Morten Gamst Pedersen flies through a crowd of players and into the giant paws of Brian Jensen.

1415: Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 live: "Blackburn are well in control here and, looking at Burnley's bench, you can't really see how their boss Owen Coyle can turn this game around."

1412: A decent move by Burnley ends when Steven Fletcher drags his shot wide. Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson isn't happy - his defence were backing off again... remember Robbie Blake's goal?

1411: Blackburn still look full of confidence when they come forward and it looks like Morten Gamst Pedersen has been told to run at the visitors' defence - he makes headway into the area before the ball is cleared.

1409: Burnley have had most of the possession since the restart but their final ball has been pretty poor: two crosses into the area... but both straight at Paul Robinson.

1407: Blackburn get the second half under way. No changes from either side at the break.

1405: The players are back out on the Ewood Park pitch. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce looks quite relaxed and takes a quick swig from a water bottle before taking his seat.

1402: Burnley's Premier League away record this season going into this game? P4 L4 F0 A14. At least they've scored today...

1357: That Brian Jensen/Graham Alexander blooper apart, we've seen some cracking goals in this game... so I want to know who your Lancashire Hot-Shot is? Robbie Blake's strike was a cracker but David Dunn and Pascal Chimbonda's strikes were just as good, following neat build-ups. Let's hope for more of the same in the second half.

1351: How about that for a cracking first 45 minutes then? Burnley made a superb start with Robbie Blake's super strike but, since then, Blackburn have been in charge. 1349: Burnley have to clear their lines again, from a Morten Gamst Pedersen free-kick. Rovers are well on top at the moment.

1348: Blackburn are on the attack again but Morten Gamst Pedersen is penalised for a foul throw. Big Sam will not be happy.

1347: Can Burnley reply before half-time? Not this time. Steven Fletcher fires in a shot from 25 yards out but it is too close to Paul Robinson, who collects it comfortably.

Morten Gamst Pedersen's neat header on the left touchline finds Pascal Chimbonda running into the area. He twists past Steven Fletcher and coolly slots home to extend Blackburn's lead.

1344: GOALFLASH Blackburn 3-1 Burnley (Chimbonda)

1343: Brian Jensen gives me kittens every time the ball comes into the Burnley box but he does well enough here. In a carbon-copy of Franco Di Santo's goal, Chris Samba meets a David Dunn free-kick at the far post but the big Dane is able to catch his header this time, instead of just falling over.

1342: Tyrone Mears does well to keep the ball in play but only succeeds in giving it to Morten Gamst Pedersen. He feeds David Dunn, who runs clear, but is adjudged to be marginally offside. Close one that.

1339: Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 live: "Robbie Blake for Burnley and David Dunn for Blackburn are the two men running this game at the moment. Both teams are trying to get them on the ball as much as possible."

1338: David Dunn works a bit of space for a shot on the edge of the Burnley box but in the end his effort is weak and bounces into Brian Jensen's arms. Apparently Franco Di Santo was booked for his celebration after he put Rovers ahead... not sure what he did though.

1337: The game's got a bit bogged down in midfield, after a series of Burnley throw-ins. The fans are still enjoying themselves though.

From I don't say it often but... Take a bow son, take a bow! on 606: "David Dunn? where'd he come from? England call up?"

1334: Burnley's chance to respond with a free-kick, and they could be level. Robbie Blake bends the ball in and Steven Caldwell meets it at the back post but cannot find the target with his header. Caldwell holds his head in his hands afterwards - he knows he should do better there.

1330: More pressure from Blackburn and Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen is having a bit of a nightmare. 'The Beast' fails to deal with a cross and then carries the ball out of play as he tries to retrieve it. David Dunn's corner is headed over by Chris Samba, but only just.

1328: The Blackburn fans are enjoying the chance to taunt their Burnley counterparts but they might be a bit premature... I think there will be a few more goals in this one. Rovers have definitely been on top for the last few minutes but Burnley are still looking dangerous when they come forward.

1327: Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 live: "Not sure why Brian Jensen went down like he did for that Blackburn goal - he has got to stay on his feet."

Well, we'd already seen two great goals in this game, but Blackburn have just scored again with a bit of a messy one. David Dunn whacks a free-kick deep into the area and Chris Samba heads it back across goal. Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen goes down as if he was pushed (he wasn't) and Graham Alexander heads the loose ball into the path of Franco Di Santo, who can hardly believe his luck as he nods into the empty net.

1323: GOALFLASH Blackburn 2-1 Burnley (Di Santo)

From Hammydigrassi on 606: "Tell you what, the atmosphere at Ewood Park sounds electric. Nice to hear both sets of fans in fine voice."

1320: Blackburn like their long throws, just a bit, and Morten Gamst Pedersen causes a bit of confusion when he launches one into the middle of the Burnley box. The Clarets clear their lines, in the end, but they are likely to face more of the same soon.

1318: Former Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on BBC Radio 5 live: "This is the first time I've seen Franco Di Santo play - he is big, strong and has a great touch - he looks an excellent player."

1317: Some neat play by Blackburn, as Franco Di Santo feeds El Hadji Diouf on the right-hand side of the area. He has time to pick his spot, but drags his shot wide. A bit of a waste.

1315: Chris Samba is back on now, after being patched up. The ball is spending quite a lot of the time in the air at the moment - this game still hasn't settled down... it's frantic stuff.

1313: Blackburn are down to 10-men, for now, because Chris Samba has suffered an eye injury and is receiving treatment on the touchline.

Hold on to your hats folks, I told you this one could be a bit special... Blackburn level within four minutes, with a goal almost as good as Blake's strike. Morten Gamst Pedersen crosses from the left, and Franco Di Santo's neat touch tees up David Dunn to drive the ball into the net.

Pick that one out! The Blackburn defence back off as Robbie Blake advances towards the area and he lets fly with a stunning strike from 25 yards out that leaves Paul Robinson helpless as it flies into the net. A brilliant goal - Burnley's first on the road this season.

1305: The first chance of the game falls to Blackburn. Goalkeeper Paul Robinson hoists a free-kick into the area from the half-way line and Chris Samba collects the ball before swivelling and firing over the bar.

1304: Apparently the Burnley fans have been in the stadium since 1100 BST. No wonder they're a bit worked up.

1303: Quite a lively opening, in the stands anyway. Both sets of fans are making a bit of a din - on the pitch, it's all a bit scrappy.

1301: Here we go. Burnley get the first ever Premier League 'Cotton Mills derby' under way.

1258: The two teams are out on the pitch at Ewood Park, which isn't completely full but is certainly jumping.

1255: Er, so much for the 'Tyrone Mears for England' bandwagon (see text below). I've been told via Twitter that he has already played for Jamaica.

1252: Right then. Hopefully, if you didn't realise how big Blackburn-Burnley was before, you do now. Kick-off at Ewood Park is under 10 minutes away...

1251: Blackburn's New Zealand-born captain Ryan Nelsen on the rivalry between Rovers and Burnley: "People south of these towns don't realise how big this is. I get asked by silly reporters if this is like an All Blacks-Australia rugby game. I've been to a few of those and they are an absolute yawn festival compared to this thing."

1248: Maybe it's not much of a surprise then that all 3,000 Burnley fans that have tickets for Ewood Park today had to be at Turf Moor at 0915 BST to make the 14-mile journey between the two stadiums in police-escorted convoy of around 60 coaches. Their route to the game was, appropriately, along the A666. The road to hell?

1246: It's been a while since Burnley and Blackburn met in the top-flight - 43 years in fact - so you might not be aware of the intensity of their rivalry... you definitely can't call this the friendly derby. Here's an example: when Burnley had just lost in the semi-finals of the old Fourth Division play-offs in 1991, Blackburn fans arranged for a plane to fly over Turf Moor trailing a banner which read 'Staying down forever, love Rovers Ha Ha Ha'.

1244: Burnley manager Owen Coyle on his side's relationship with today's opponents Blackburn: "I was in the job here five minutes when I came out of a press conference and somebody who worked at the football club came up to me and said 'listen, all the best - but make sure you beat the Rovers when you play them!'. I thought 'we're in a different division to begin with!' But it struck home straightaway, that intense rivalry."

1243: Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce on his side's derby with Burnley: "For the fans we feel we have to win. I'm sure many Blackburn and Burnley fans work together and we want our fans to go home as happy as they can be and looking forward to getting up and going to work on Monday morning and bumping into that Burnley fan saying 'we've got one over on you'."

1238: By the way, if any team knows the danger of inflatable items bobbling around in their box, it's Manchester City. You might remember they were knocked out of the FA Cup in 2008 when Sheffield United scored a goal after City's defence were bamboozled by the ball bouncing off a balloon.

1234: That's enough about the beach ball now. Bouncing over to today's action, we've got two Premier League games this afternoon. Blackburn host east Lancashire rivals Burnley in the 'Cotton Mills derby' at 1300 BST before Wigan take on Manchester City at 1600 BST.

1232: With perfect timing, the nominees for the 2009 (Red?) Ballon d'Or award (or European Footballer of the Year to its mates) were were announced this morning. No sign of Mr Beach Ball, but there are two Liverpool players - Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard - among 10 British-based stars on the 30-man shortlist, which also includes last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

1230 BST: Lots of debate about whether Darren Bent's 'beach ball' goal for Sunderland yesterday should have been allowed to stand (it appears not). The only thing I know for sure is that a big red spherical object hasn't had such a influence on the outcome of a Liverpool match since Jan Molby last lined up for them in midfield.
