De la Hoya takes extra bout
De la Hoya will tune up for Mosley
Oscar de la Hoya will fight Yory Boy Campas in May as preparation for his rematch with Shane Mosley.
The American had planned to stay out of the ring until his 13 September rumble with 'Sugar Shane' - De la Hoya lost on points to Mosley in 2000. But he has now decided to tune up against Campas on 3 May at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas. The durable Campas has a record of 80 wins from 85 bouts. The fight will top a card to include a title defence by WBC featherweight champion Erik Morales against Bobby Boy Velardez. De La Hoya - who is 35-2 over his career - last fought in September, when he stopped Fernando Vargas to add the WBA title to the WBC title he already held. Before that, he had gone 15 months without a fight and had talked of retirement. |
