AS Roma have expressed an interest in signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on loan.

The 27-year-old remained part of Chelsea's so-called "bomb squad" alongside Raheem Sterling, and both are available for permanent or temporary moves away from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

However, Chelsea had already filled all six of their permitted international loan spots, which Fifa rules limit for overseas moves.

Roma had previously shown interest in signing attacker Tyrique George on loan in the summer and appear to have an open dialogue with Chelsea.

Disasi, meanwhile, was left at Chelsea after loan moves to Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and West Ham failed to materialise on deadline day in the summer.

The feeling was that the four-cap France international preferred a move overseas, amid reported interest from AC Milan and his former club AS Monaco.

Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco in 2023 for £38.8m and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
