Ricky Hatton's Mum 7 Dec 2007
Ricky Hatton
Carol Hatton on life with Ricky

In the early hours of Sunday 9th December, boxer Ricky Hatton, from Manchester, will step into the ring in Las Vegas to fight for the welterweight championship of the world. He’s taking on America’s Floyd Mayweather, and even though Hatton is undefeated in 43 fights, he’s still considered the underdog.

Ricky’s mother, Carol, will be at the ringside as she’s been for all his previous fights. For much of his boxing career her boy lived at home and she managed his diet. Even though her son is now worth millions, she still runs her carpet stall in Glossop three times a week. But what is it like to watch your child take the punches? Gareth Davies, boxing correspondent of The Daily Telegraph, reports from Las Vegas and Glossop.
