Putting the fun back into football 6 June 2008
A new scheme to help all kids enjoy the beautiful game

Children’s football is big business these days, but in many schools the lunchtime kick-around tends to be dominated by a group of know-it-all older boys. For every wannabe Wayne Rooney or Frank Lampard in the playground there are many more children – including many girls - who feel unable to join in. Now an organisation called Give Us Back Our Game is aiming to change all that, running projects and campaigns designed to help put the fun back into football. In Derbyshire Give Us Back Our Game has now trained over 100 dinner ladies in new techniques to help everyone feel included and have fun. Caroline Swinburne went to Westhouses Primary School in Derbyshire to see Give Us Back Our Game’s Paul Cooper at work.
