Waste site fire causes bin collection delays
GoogleBin collections have been delayed after a fire at a waste transfer station.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was called just after 11:00 GMT to the incident in Pump Lane in Caister-on-Sea, next to the Caister recycling centre.
Fire engines from Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Hethersett and Stalham were sent to the scene, and the A149 Caister Bypass was shut because of smoke before the fire was put out by 15:45 GMT.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council said on its website there would be no brown bin collections on Tuesday, with crews prioritising black bins and attempting to catch up with recycling and garden waste over the coming days.
