Campaign launched for safer nights out
BBCA campaign has been launched to help islanders know where they can ask for help when enjoying a night out.
SafetyNet has launched its Spot the Shield campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the shield window stickers displayed by certified venues.
Venues are awarded the stickers when at least 70% of their customer-facing staff have completed specialist training to recognise and respond to situations where someone may feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or vulnerable.
The campaign comes after the completion by 21 local venues of the Safe Place Project earlier this year.
Jo Jo Rabet, from the Golden Lion pub, said she believed the sticker on the door alongside the staff training, will be vitally important for customer safety.
"About a week after we did the safety sticker three young girls came in with their phones out of battery.
"They asked if they could stay and be safe until they could contact their parents - it works."

Alex Lock, from the cocktail bar Bad Habits, said the padlock stickers are an important signal to show venues are looking out for their customers.
He said: "I guess it's like the food ratings that you see around town.
"People always look to them as a reassurance that the venue you're going into have had the required training to be able to look after you whilst you are there.
"I think it's really important that our customers, when they do come to us, they know that we have had the training."
SafetyNet Chair Poppy Murray said: "We're so proud to be celebrating the 21 venues that have achieved Safe Place Project certification and shown real leadership in prioritising the safety and wellbeing of their customers and staff.
"The Spot the Shield campaign is about recognising their commitment and helping the public know where to find support if they ever need it.
"By bringing local employers like Specsavers on board, we're also extending that message beyond the night-time economy, encouraging everyone to play a part in creating a community where people look out for one another and where safe nights out are the norm, not the exception."
