Fire service confirms teenage girl died in blaze
UKNIPRescue teams have been working to make a house structurally safe after a young teenage girl died in a fire.
The "intense" blaze in White Admiral Way, Hamstreet, near Ashford, started just after 12:00 GMT on Sunday and at its height six fire engines worked to extinguish the flames, which had spread throughout the semi-detached property.
A second child and an adult were taken to hospital while three firefighters also suffered minor injuries.
On Monday morning, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said: "KFRS' technical rescue unit is in attendance, as well as two fire engines, and crews are working to make the property structurally safe."
PA MediaThe service said firefighters had extinguished all remaining hot spots at the scene and that an investigation into the cause of the fire was under way.
The fire service had been joined by crews from Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex in responding to the blaze.
People living nearby or travelling through the area had also been urged to close windows and doors due to the smoke.
