Former prison officer jailed for child sex offences

A former prison officer has been jailed for 40 months for child sex offences.

Ashley Evans, 36, of Archangel Square, Northampton, admitted four offences, including causing a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Evans, who was employed at HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough when he was arrested on 21 May, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on 12 December.

He also admitted attempting to cause a child to watch or look at an image of sexual activity and possession of cocaine.

The 36-year-old was handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and barred from working with children and vulnerable people.
