A £1.8m extension is being proposed at a council-owned leisure centre to create two new studios.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council said the plans would allow Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre, in Christchurch to provide a more diverse timetable in a purpose-built environment.

It is hoped the scheme, which would be subject to planning permission, will increase capacity, boost membership and generate income to reinvest in services.

Councillors are due to discuss the proposals at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Leisure councillor Richard Herrett said: "By creating modern, accessible spaces for fitness and leisure we'll be able to offer more choice and flexibility for residents of all ages and abilities."
