The recycling centre in Fengate, Peterborough, remains closed

Peterborough's recycling centre has shut due to a bin lorry fire, the city council has said.

Crews from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the site in Fengate just before midday.

The service said a crew from Stanground arrived to find "a lorry well alight in Dodson Way", adding that crews remained at the scene.

Peterborough City Council apologised for the "inconvenience", adding that "safety must come first".
