A woman in her 70s has died after she was hit by a bin lorry outside a pub in Lancashire.

She was struck on Trinity Close, near to the Coach and Horses pub in Freckleton, Preston, earlier.

A lorry driver, a man in his 50s from St Anne's, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. Trinity Close was closed for nearly six hours while emergency services were at the scene.

Det Sgt Matt Davidson, of Lancashire Police, urged witnesses to come forward - this included an appeal for anyone who might have footage of what happened.
