Islanders urged to plan ahead for prescriptions
PA MediaPharmacists have urged islanders to order repeat prescriptions ahead of the coming bank holidays.
Chief pharmacist Teena Bhogal said pharmacies were under "continuing pressure" and islanders who had planned ahead would help them manage their workload.
Ms Bhogal said prescriptions could be dispensed up to four business days before the date on them so people off island could have them dispensed in advance.
She said people with sufficient medication at home could help by waiting until after the Christmas period to order further supplies.
Ms Bhogal said this would help the reduced number of pharmacies open over the festive season to prioritise new and urgent prescriptions.
"Reduced freight services and the closing of pharmaceutical wholesalers in the UK create considerable logistical challenges for local pharmacies," she added.
