A bomb disposal team were called to an address in Castleford on Monday after police found a "suspicious object".

Officers attended the property on Sheldrake Road after receiving a request for a welfare check on a man.

He was found at the house and was arrested after he made threats to harm officers, West Yorkshire Police said.

The discovery of the object led to a small evacuation of nearby addresses and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team were called, however they found the item not to be a cause for concern.

"The cordon has been lifted from outside the property and those residents who were temporarily evacuated have returned to their homes," a force spokesperson said.
