Emergency services were called to Siskin Drive on Friday afternoon

A 72-year-old man has died following a house fire in Derby.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to a property in Siskin Drive, Sinfin by neighbours at 15:44 GMT on Friday.

Crews from Ascot Drive, Ilkeston and Kingsway attended the fire and entered the property using breathing apparatus but the man had already died.

The service added no-one else was in the property at the time of the fire but a dog was taken into veterinary care.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is scheduled to take place over the weekend.
