Festive displays spreading cheer across the region

From inflatable Santas, snowmen made out of beer bottles and grottos, the West Country is full of Christmas spirit.

Some residents have decked their houses out to raise money for charity, while others have done it to spread festive cheer.

Here are just some of those who are working to brighten up the dark, December nights.

Festive: Brothers Lee and Paul Brailsford have decorated their mum's house in Brentry, Bristol, for 30 years. They are raising money for The Grand Appeal.

Merry Melksham: Residents living down Sarum Avenue in Melksham, Wiltshire, are continuing their annual tradition of lighting up the street.

It is all for a good cause, with proceeds going to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity.

Lights for loved ones: This house in South Cerney, Cirencester, has been decorated by Debbie Walton in memory of her mum.

All proceeds will be donated to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Santa Claus is coming to town: A grotto has been built in Melksham, Wiltshire as part of the street display in Sarum Avenue.

So far, the residents have raised more than £3,000 for charity.

Do you wanna build a snowman? Although there is no chance of a white Christmas in Somerset this year, it hasn't stopped The Queen Victoria pub in Priddy.

Staff are making good use of thousands of empty beer bottles and raising money for Children's Hospice South West.

Walking in a Winterbourne Wonderland: The annual fundraiser has returned to Winterbourne Down in Bristol.

More than 100,000 lights are on display to raise money for the Grand Appeal charity.

The most wonderful time of the year: Eastbury Way in Swindon has been transformed with lights.

Residents down the street are raising money for the mental health charity, Mind.

Look up: This street in Abbeymead, Gloucestershire is a great spot for stargazing.

The display is raising money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) UK as well as Great Western Air Ambulance.

Rudolph: Trina Hodges is raising money for The Grand Appeal, a cause which is close to her heart.

Her impressive displays in Oldland Common, Bristol, are not exclusive to Christmas - the house is also transformed every year for Halloween.

Sparkling: The Brentnall family in Patchway, Bristol have created this colourful display to raise money for St Peter's Hospice.

It is in memory of a relative who died from a brain tumour eight weeks after diagnosis.

The season of giving: This display in Critchill Road, Frome, was made by Xanthe Anderson.

There is a box for food and essential supplies which visitors can drop donations into, which will then be given to local charity, Fair Frome.
