The commissioner investigates complaints about the conduct of elected States members

Andrew Ozanne has been handed the role of interim commissioner for standards in Guernsey after the resignation of Melissa McCullough.

The commissioner is an independent official who investigates complaints about the conduct of elected States members.

Deputy Sarah Hansmann Rouxel, who chairs the States' Assembly & Constitution Committee, said members were keen to ensure that the duties of the commissioner could continue to be carried out independently and effectively during a review of its code of conduct process.

"Mr Ozanne brings a great deal of relevant experience in adjudication, complaints handling, and professional discipline, and the committee was unanimous in its decision to make this interim appointment," she said.

Mr Ozanne has chaired La Chambre de Discipline, handling professional complaints under Guernsey Bar law. He has also worked on other complaints processes and served in government in a non-States role.

His wider career includes senior positions in regulated practice, dispute resolution, and governance across public, charitable, and third-sector organisations.
