Sixth arrest after city centre assault
BBCPolice investigating a serious assault in Leicester city centre have made a sixth arrest.
Leicestershire Police said officers were called to Horsefair Street at about 05:00 GMT on 30 November after receiving reports a man in his 20s had suffered serious head injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, the force added.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
The force said five other men - 18, 20, 20, 21 and 22 - were previously arrested on suspicion of the same offence and released on bail while inquiries continued.
Det Sgt Adrian Davies said the victim remained in a "extremely serious condition" and it was "vital" the force continued to work to piece together events on 30 November.
"We have spoken to a number of people who witnessed the incident or were in the area at the time, but if you know anything that can help our investigation, it is not too late to come forward and tell us what you saw.
"We believe there may still be some people who we have not yet spoken to. If you were there, please contact us," he added.
