Fire breaks out at recycling plant

Fire crews are tackling a blaze that broke out at a recycling plant during the early hours.

A warning has been issued for people to stay away from the scene in Park Road, Hockley, Birmingham. Residents and businesses nearby have been advised to keep doors and windows shut.

West Midlands Fire Service was called out at 04:24 GMT and seven appliances were sent, which has since been scaled down to six.

The service said it did not yet know the cause and there had been no casualties. It said it expected to remain at the plant for most of Tuesday morning.
