Former Tory MP becomes advisor to Reform mayor
UK ParliamentFormer Conservative MP Lia Nici has been appointed as a special advisor to the Reform UK Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire.
Ms Nici held the former Great Grimsby seat from 2019 before losing to Labour in the 2024 election.
A Reform UK source recently confirmed to the Press Association that she had joined the party along with Jonathan Gullis and Chris Green, two other former Conservative MPs.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, mayor Luke Campbell said he was "delighted to welcome Lia to the team".
"I'm confident she will be a great asset as we continue working hard for communities in Hull and East Yorkshire," the mayor added.
The former Olympic boxing champion won the role as the region's first elected mayor in May.
He makes decisions on housing, public transport, infrastructure, economic development, business, skills and regeneration.
Commenting on her new role, Ms Nici, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to support Mayor Luke's vision for Hull and East Yorkshire.
"I'm looking forward to working closely with him and delivering on the priorities that matter most to local communities."
