Visitors to Clumber Park are being urged to take precautions such as not feeding wildlife

Avian flu has been confirmed in wild birds at Clumber Park, the National Trust has said.

Visitors are being urged not to feed any wildlife, particularly birds, to keep dogs on leads across all areas of the park and not to touch sick or dead birds.

Fishing on the lake has also been suspended until further notice, the trust said in a statement on Thursday.

It added the risk to visitors and dogs was "very low", and the park, near Worksop, remains "open and safe for visitors".

The trust said: "Some areas of the park may be temporarily cordoned off, only where necessary, to support wildlife protection and monitoring.

"With over 200 bird species calling Clumber Park home, support from our visitors is incredibly important.

"These precautions will only reduce the spread of the disease if all visitors follow the guidelines, and we must take a zero-tolerance approach."
