ZAPCHAT: Hairy Histories

It’s Witches of History Week, YAY! We get to dress up as the incredible witches who made it possible for us to even be at Cackle’s!

A young witch (Bea) in Cackle's Academy uniform wearing a blonde wig looking annoyed.
Media caption,

Experimenting with hairstyles is fun but none of these suit me! Everyone is practising hairstyles except me…Sybil is going as Cristobelle Cackle, the founding witch of Cackle’s. How cool is that?

Media caption,

Sybil said I could go as Cristobelle too…But this wig looks awful. I don’t want to wear it just to have long, silky hair. I feel so silly being the only one in a wig!

Media caption,

I’ve never been so excited in my entire life. Miranda Toadturn helped me realise that witches are all different and all equally important. <3

Media caption,

All witches are unique, that’s what makes us special. Happy Witches of History week!

Zapchat replies: Turquoisecats11: Well met Bea! Once I dressed as Frida Kahlo, a Mexican artist. She is an inspiration to me and one day I want to have art as amazing as her’s! One day, maybe you could do something as great as Miranda Toadturn! When you put your mind to it, you can do whatever! Ethel will love to hear about Miranda. Bea: Well met, Turqoisecats11. Frida Kahlo looks so glamorous with those flowers in her hair! You must have looked wonderful! I’m sure if you try your best, you’ll be able to walk in Frida’s arty footsteps someday.
Zapchat replies: ShiningStar: Well met, Bea. Once at school we had to dress up as our favourite sports person. It was really fun! Bea: Well met, ShiningStar! Miss Drill told us all about the witches’ sporting stars during our lessons, like Edna Farthingwand and her broomstick flying expertise! Without her, there wouldn’t be broomstick sports at all! Which sports person did you choose?
Zapchat replies: princessA: Well met Bea. We had to dress up as great people in the world and I dressed up as Rosa Parks. Bea: Well met, princessA. That’s brilliant, I loved dressing up as someone else for the day. It made me feel so much more confident and sure of myself. How did it feel to dress up as Rosa Parks?
Zapchat replies: MintSmilingBadger Well met Bea, I had to dress up as my favourite book character. I couldn't choose! I didn't want to dress up as someone most people would go as. So I stood out and dressed up as Luna Lovegood from Hogwarts. No one else dressed up as her. Have you heard of Hogwarts? Bea: Well met, MintSmilingBadger! It’s always good to be original, you must have been relieved no one else dressed up in the same outfit. I was so excited that I was the only Miranda Toadturn. Hmm, I’ve not heard of Hogwarts, is it another magical school, like Pentangles?
Zapchat replies: Emmi: I had to dress up as somebody from the 1990s. My hair wasn't right - it was too frizzy. Like yours kind of, but I wore old clothes, straightened my hair (it frizzed out again after an hr) and went as my ancestor. Bea: Well met, Emma. How fun! Dressing up as your ancestor sounds really exciting. We have family trees that grow in the Cackle’s orchard so you can see what your family members looked like before you were born! I’ll go and take a look next time I’m nearby.
Zapchat replies: CalmKoala: Well met Bea! Sometimes we had to dress up as our dream job. So far I have dressed up as a bus driver, a tennis player and a cheerleader! Bea: Well met, CalmKoala! I’ve not thought about what kind of witch job I’d like, but I know one thing. If Miranda Toadturn can be an important witch, so can I! I got so many compliments for my choice, no one else was dressed as her!
Zapchat replies: aquapup: Well met Bea. I had to dress up as a writer so I decided too dress up as Jacquelin Wilson and the wig did not suit me at all Bea: Well met, aquapup. I know exactly how you felt about your wig problems! Did you see how badly the wigs suited me? I knew I couldn’t dress up as Cristobelle Cackle, I just wasn’t being myself when I wore that wig. I bet you felt so much better when you took it off!
