Behind the magic

BBC Tour Guide

I work for BBC tours. For past few years, I have run a tour as part of a BBC open day. This year, I created a quiz for visitors - this is always great as people know so much about the BBC. I led the tour around Quay House in Salford, visiting studios and then ran an interactive session at the end.

This year was a huge success. It’s great to have the opportunity to show visitors around the BBC. We showed them round the BBC Breakfast studio and the Radio Manchester studios, where staff members were able give an insight into how production works. Then they were able to put into practice what they had learnt by presenting their own news and weather bulletin in our interactive session.

It’s always a good opportunity to meet with the public and find out their impressions of the BBC and answer any questions they may have. We also had a few younger visitors who are interested in working at the BBC and it was good to show them what we have to offer in the north.

*BBC Outreach & Corporate Responsibility delivered the BBC open day as part of the Community Fun Day, which took place all across Salford’s MediaCityUK.  Seventy-three visitors took a tour of one of the BBC’s buildings on the site, Quay House - the home of BBC Breakfast, BBC Sport, Radio Five Live, BBC Radio Manchester, and BBC North West Tonight – to name a few.
