Redundancy notices at pie factory

The Trowbridge factory
Bowyers has been connected to Trowbridge for 200 years

More than 110 workers at a pie-making factory in Wiltshire are being made redundant on Friday.

The Bowyers factory in Trowbridge is being closed by Pork Farms because the EU has set a geographical limit on the production of some of its brands.

About 75 workers will stay on until the site closes on 25 April and 30 will be transferred elsewhere. The total number of redundancies will be 203.

The company is talking with Wiltshire College about selling the site.

No decision is expected for several months.
