How green is your supermarket?
Sainsbury's supermarket, North Greenwich, London
Sainsbury were rated the best of the 'big four'
Supermarkets have been given scores according to their environmental policies.

The National Consumer Council looked at five categories: waste, how far food has been transported, the sustainability of fish and of wood products and sustainable farming.

Each company was graded between A and E for each area and then given an overall mark based on its average score.

Waitrose, awarded a 'B', did best overall, with Sainsbury and M&S gaining a 'C' grade.

At the other end, Morrisons and Somerfield was given a ticking-off, with an 'E'.
