A policeman who died after his car crashed in bad weather in Pembrokeshire on Tuesday night has been named as Barrie Davies, 39, of Letterston.

He was driving an unmarked black Seat Toledo police car, which crashed on the A40 near Withybush Aerodrome.

A Dyfed-Powys force spokeswoman said no other vehicle was involved in the incident at 2210 BST.

Road conditions at the time were reported to be atrocious but it is not known if they contributed.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest has been opened and adjourned.

Any witnesses are urged to contact Haverfordwest station on 0845 3302000.
