Everytime it rains the water doesn't seem to have anywhere to go
|
Householders in Gwynedd villages have started mopping up following Tuesday's floods.
Elfed Griffiths at Rhosgadfan, near Caernarfon, faced water running through the downstairs of his family home.
"I'm trying to put it in perspective, as none of my family were hurt, but it's still very upsetting," said Mr Griffiths.
Around 20 properties were also flooded at Groeslon, four miles away, while roads were also hit in the county.
Mr Griffiths added that he faced moving out with his wife and two children to stay with relatives while the house is repaired.
A small culvert at the back of the property failed to cope after hours of heavy rainfall.
"We've been living here for 12 years and this is the first time this has happened," said Mr Griffiths, who lives with wife Rhian and children Sion, 18, and Dion, 12.
"I'm waiting now for the insurance man to tell us what to do next. We'll have to move out to stay with my in-laws," he added.
In Groeslon, Jean Naylor and her family suffered less damage because her daughter and son-in-law were in the house when the water threatened.
"We weren't home but Linda and Gav had just returned from their honeymoon in Cuba and were alerted to the problem by our neighbour," said Mrs Naylor.

"They spent all afternoon mopping the water as it came in, and the fire brigade were brilliant pumping the water away from the house."
Despite all their efforts however they say the laminate flooring throughout most of the house will have to be replaced.
Weather warning
"I'm worried it's going to happen again, as everytime it rains the water doesn't seem to have anywhere to go," she added.
At one stage many roads in Gwynedd were impassable because of flooding, including the A487 between Llanwnda and Groeslon and the A499 Pwllheli to Llanbedrog.
The National Severe Weather Warning Service has issued a warning of further rain later on 12 October which could cause more localised flooding in the area.
Anyone concerned about flooding in their area can call the Environment Agency's 24-hour floodline on 0845 988 1188.
