Odds offered on Giggs baby name
Ryan Giggs
Giggs and his partner's baby is due in May
A bookmaker is offering odds on the name of Welsh soccer star Ryan Giggs' new baby.

Punters are being offered odds of 100/1 the name Juliet if the Manchester United winger has a girl - to match team mate David Beckham's second son Romeo.

Boys' names
10/1 Frank
12/1 Mark
14/1 Scott
16/1 Ronald
16/1 Alex
20/1 Peter
100/1 Manhatten
One of the favourites if it is a boy is Mark after former Wales international boss Mark Hughes.

Giggs, 29, announced at the weekend that his girlfriend Stacey Cook, 24, was four months pregnant.

"Stacey and I are both thrilled by the news and we can't wait for the birth in May," he said.

Bookmakers Jack Brown are offering odds of 10/1 on Frank and Annie as the favourite names.

Girls' names
10/1 Annie
12/1 Diane
14/1 Anne
16/1 Sarah
16/1 Linda
20/1 Catherine
100/1 Juliet

But spokesman Karl Williams said Giggs could be tempted to follow fellow United star David Beckham by choosing an unusual name.

He said: "We are offering 100/1 on them going for Juliet - a perfect future love match for Romeo Beckham.

"Or if it's a boy they may go for a New York borough.

"I think Ryan is a bit classier than Becks so they could go for Manhattan Giggs - we'll give you 100/1 on that."

So far, no Welsh names have been suggested, but Mr Williams said the bookmaker would put a price on any suggested.

"He does very much like to be known as a Welshman so it wouldn't come as a surprise," he said.

"If any Welsh name gets thrown at us I'll put a price on it."

Alex - on offer at 16/1 - has been suggested because of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, famous for his half-time rants when his stars have a bad game.

Karl said: "It's a bit of an outside chance, I'm sure one Alex screaming at him is enough for Ryan."

Dating

Giggs and his mystery girlfriend kept their relationship a secret - not even Ferguson knew about their love match.

The couple have known each other for 10 years and have been dating for a year.

The news emerged hours after Giggs played for United in their 4-1 FA Cup victory over Portsmouth on Saturday.

Cardiff-born Giggs joined Manchester United as a schoolboy.

Earlier this season he played his 500th game for the club.

He made his first team debut as a substitute against Everton aged 17 in 1991 and has won three English doubles with the club.

He made his Welsh debut the same year against West Germany.
