Statsraad Lehmkuhl took the stranded people to Scotland
Ten people stranded in Norway in the wake of the volcano travel restrictions have arrived back in Scotland - after hitching a lift on a tall ship. The group, who were attending a conference in Bergen, arrived in Orkney on board the sail training ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl. They left Norway on Monday morning after only getting 15 minutes' notice of the vessel sailing. They now have to try to get to the Scottish mainland. The passengers, some from the north east of Scotland, said it had been a "spur of the moment" decision. 'Super adventure' They described it as a great experience, despite some fairly heavy seasickness. Neil Robertson told BBC Scotland: "What a super adventure, because it is a beautiful ship. "Having the choice again I would do it again, definitely." Fiona Doig added: "We were quite lucky. We were all gathered together - normally we were off seeing the sights, trying to fill our time. "We looked at each other and thought 'give it a try'."
