Top earners face income tax rise

Chancellor Alistair Darling will announce on Monday that he intends to increase the top rate of income tax for the wealthy, the BBC has learned.

The move would end a pledge by New Labour not to raise either the basic or top rate of tax. Ben Wright reports.
