Kirkby Residents Action Group say they will call for a public inquiry

The designs for the Tesco and Everton superstore and 50,000 seat stadium complex are on display at the leisure centre on Cherryfield Drive.

The plans have sparked controversy with some residents who claim they are concerned about the level of traffic and loss of green space.

Tesco bosses said they felt the exhibition would allay any fears.

They say the company is listening to the concerns of people living in Kirkby who are opposed to the plans.

Spokesman Tony Fletcher said: "People are concerned about traffic, they are concerned about match day control.

"This exhibition is designed to show people what measures will be put in place for a stadium to come to Kirkby.

"In fact the stadium will be one of the three most environmentally friendly and transport friendly in the country."

Ian Morris from Kirkby Residents Action Group, which is campaigning against the development, said: "I firmly believe if enough people say no then the council has got to listen.
