Dwight Yorke admitted tailgating at up to 100mph
Footballer Dwight Yorke has been banned from driving for six months after he admitted tailgating other motorists at speeds of up to 100mph.

The Birmingham City striker was caught doing 30 miles over the speed limit and driving within 10 feet of other drivers, Chorley magistrates heard.

Yorke, 33, of Alderley Edge, Cheshire, admitted a charge of driving without due care and attention.

He had been caught on the M61 last May as he drove to Manchester Airport.

Videotape evidence

The court was told Yorke was in gold-coloured Lincoln Aviator 4x4 on his way to the airport.

Police followed the ex-Manchester United forward for 10 miles videotaping his driving.

They watched as he accelerated close to the rear of five cars.

The 33-year-old, who at the time played for Blackburn Rovers, had left the club's training ground and was late for a flight to his native Tobago where to planned to visit family.

Yorke of Alderley Edge, Cheshire, pleaded guilty to one count of driving without due care and attention.
