Dieter plans Lake Windermere swim
A Worcestershire woman who has lost six stone since Christmas is to swim the length of Lake Windermere for charity.

Helen Ritchie, of Malvern, who weighed nearly 22 stone when she began dieting, is embarking on the 10-mile swim to raise money for the Stroke Association.

Ms Ritchie, who works at the Three Counties Showground, said her boss set her the challenge.

She told BBC Hereford & Worcester her new exercise regime should help with the swim on 9 September.

"I joined Slimming World in Malvern and basically I followed their diet, but the exercise has definitely helped," she said.

"I couldn't even walk properly beforehand, I mean I couldn't have carried on the way I was.

"I had to do something about it and I'm really glad I did - everyone's been so supportive."
