The world's largest commercial communications satellite, which was built in Hertfordshire, has been successfully launched into space.
Inmarsat 4 blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Friday after last minute technical hitches delayed the scheduled take-off for Thursday.
The satellite - built by a team of 200 engineers at EADS Astrium in Stevenage - is to remain in orbit for 14 years.
It will be used for internet, email and mobile phone communications.
An EADS spokesman said it would improve and extend internet coverage to almost 90% of the world.
