Finnish mobile phone company Nokia says it has signed a deal with Norwegian firm Telenor to set up and run a mobile telephone network in Pakistan.
The company said the network would be operational by the first half of next year, and would initially cover northern and central Punjab.
A statement announcing the deal did not disclose a value for the contract.
Nokia will set up the base stations and infrastructure, and operate the system on behalf of Telenor for three years.
In April, the Norwegian state-controlled Telenor acquired a 15-year licence for country-wide mobile phone operations in Pakistan for $291m.
