THE DAILY POLITICS
Sir Menzies Campbell on The Daily Politics
I would like to do better at Prime Minister's Questions.

But let me tell you this: politics in this country is not Prime Minister's Questions. It is not the issue on which people decide how to cast their votes.

It's about policy; it's about judgment; it's about commitment.

Sir Menzies Campbell

If you're watching in broadband, here's how to find your favourite parts of the latest show.

1200 Andrew welcomes our guest for the programme: Adam Price, the Plaid Cymbru MP.

1204 Iraqi leaders are said to be close to a deal on forming a government of national unity. Elections were held back in December and since then, a power struggle has been going on over the exact make-up of the future government. Over the last few months there's been an upsurge in violence, as Laura explains.

1205 Laura's joined by Lennie Harper, the father in law of the military policeman Major Matthew Titchener, who was killed in Basra in August 2003.

1207 Andrew welcomes Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell into the debate.

1219 The Daily Politics has decided to take the PM at his word. A couple of weeks ago, Tony was down the gym, urging us all to get fit and fight the flab. We've all signed up to the idea. Andrew's doing a charity bike ride next month and Laura's doing a triathlon on Saturday! But are politicians following our example? In case they were thinking of staying safely on the sofa, we've signed up four of them for our Body Politics training camp. Over the next two months, we'll be following their progress. It kicks off on Monday, but today, we offer you a snippet.

1223 The Conservative MP and former Education Minister Eric Forth has died after suffering from cancer. The MP for Bromley and Chislehurst was known for his right-wing views and lively parliamentary performances. His speciality was defeating bills by speaking for so long, they ran out of time. This led him to be described as the "greatest filibusterer of all time". We have some footage of Eric in typically combative form, questioning Ruth Kelly about sex offenders in schools. Also known for his taste in loud ties and matching waistcoats, we have a clip of him on our very own Daily Politics sofa discussing why ties are so important.
