Suspected Taliban militants have launched a co-ordinated attack on several buildings in the centre of the Afghan capital, Kabul.
Officials described "chaotic scenes" during what was the latest in a series of brazen attacks in the capital.
The Taliban fighters took over two buildings in the centre of Kabul, and a shopping centre was set ablaze in the clashes.
The Afghan army soldiers took up positions on nearby buildings as the battle raged. Analysts say there will be concern that the militants have again broken through to the most protected part of the city.
Seven militants, two civilians and three security personnel were killed and scores of people injured.
