Police happy with Liberation Day
Police in Guernsey have praised licensees for their co-operation on Liberation Day.

Seven arrests were made in St Peter Port during the 12 hours from 1500 BST on Sunday for drunken behaviour and minor assaults.

Extra police officers were on duty for the events and Inspector Phil Guilbert said officers had been on the lookout for underage drinkers.

Hundreds of people packed St Peter Port for the Liberation Day celebrations.

There was a full programme of events for islanders and visitors, mixing both remembrance and celebration.

The public warning sirens were sounded on Sunday morning followed by a church service and ceremonial parade.

Other celebratory events included music and a fun fair at the North Beach car park.
