France's voters have been out on the streets after Jacques Chirac landslide victory over the far-right challenger Jean Marie Le Pen
Joy in the multi-ethnic city of Marseille and tears among Le Pen supporters at his HQ in St Cloud, Paris
For many French, it was most of all a victory for racial tolerance
For Jacques Chirac, it was another seven years in the top job in French politics
Party politics were reborn as Chirac loyalists urged victory over the left at the June parliamentary polls
Some Le Pen supporters put on a brave face by singing the national anthem outside his home...
... but the man who outraged a nation was hit hard at the ballot box on Sunday.
