Severe bad weather across Europe

Heavy snow and freezing weather conditions are continuing across parts of Europe, causing severe disruption.

Some of the worst weather has been in Greece and Turkey, where many towns and villages have been cut off and left without electricity.

In both countries, hundreds of people have had to be rescued from their cars.

A state of emergency has been declared in Athens after the heaviest snowfall in a decade, and in Istanbul the army and civil defence units have been mobilised.

Several people have frozen to death in Turkey.

There have been more deaths too in Moscow where nearly 300 people have now died from the cold - many falling asleep on the streets after drinking heavily.
