Simon Jenkins is mad as hell

In a new Sunday Supplement series for The Westminster Hour first broadcast in June 2005, the author and columnist Simon Jenkins is as mad as hell.
In part one of the series, he argues that the state and its functionaries are driving us crazy.
In part two, Simon Jenkins argues that a lot of the frustration of dealing with the state is to be blamed on the woman who was supposed to be the great slayer of bureaucrats - Margaret Thatcher. He believes that she unwittingly created a Whitehall mania for targets.
In the final part, he argues that reforming our democracy is the key to escaping bureaucracy.
