The firm is to open three new premises in Northern Ireland

An Irish pizza franchise has said it will open three new outlets in Northern Ireland in Armagh, Newry and Omagh.

Four Star Pizza already has five outlets in Northern Ireland, three in Belfast, one in Newtownabbey and one in Londonderry.

The County Wicklow-based company said it intends to create 200 jobs across Ireland during 2009.

It is understood that there has been a rise in people ordering in food instead of eating out due to the recession.

The company said it wanted to expand into Cavan, Dundalk, Letterkenny, Leixlip and Wexford town with bases in the Dublin suburbs of Blanchardstown and Ballymun also planned. The company already has 46 outlets across Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Chief executive officer Jason Sheehy said there had been a surge in orders in the evening for larger pizzas.

"It seems sensible to suggest that these are being bought by families with 'staying in being the new going out," he said.
