David Cameron's speech at the Conservative Party spring conference is about what he is calling "a new age of austerity".

He is using the gathering at Cheltenham race course to outline his plans for the general election, which could be within the year.

He told the BBC how he thought it was possible to pull back from the "debt crisis", but that "we clearly have a lot to do" to create "a culture of thrift and of value for money throughout government".
